Petite Cascapedia River

One of our favorite rivers, the Petite Cascapedia, offers anglers an exceptional opportunity to sight fish for big salmon and trout! Heading up-river this gin-clear river flows a modest 20-miles before reaching its two smaller feeder rivers the East and West branches. The river is divided into 4 sectors. Sectors B & C make up the main part of the river while sectors D & E make up the West and East branches, respectively. We fish primarily for salmon on sectors B & C, and for trout on the upper reaches of both D & E sectors. We usually use our hand made 26' cedar-strip canoes for transport on sectors B & C and our 20' ABS canoes on the upper reaches of the river.

The river opens on June 15th about the time we see our first run of big bright fish. The river fishes well from about the 18th of June straight through to the end of the season which ends September 30th. July and August are both excellent months for dry-fly fishing for salmon and is also an excellent time to sight-fish for huge sea-run brookies!
