Nouvelle River

This intimate little river runs cold and clear all season long. Despite the fact that salmon runs are modest (150-375-fish a year), the Nouvelle has proven itself to be a first class river for large sea-run brookies.

As with most of the other Bay of Chaleur Rivers, the Nouvelle's water quality is exceptional! It's icy blue-green water will mesmerize you as you cast to big trout in the 2-7-pound range with small rods. Your chances of running into adult salmon are good later in the season, from about mid-July through September, but we mostly fish this river for trout. River access is good and runs of sea-run brookies are very healthy. We often run the river in a canoe so as to cover lot's of water, but almost always wade while stalking our trout.
